Phrase Searches
You can search for phrases by adding quotation marks. Words enclosed in double quotes ("like this") appear together in all returned documents. Phrase searches using quotation marks are useful when searching for specific titles or names.

Quick Finders

Overview

A Quick Finder is a portal feature that performs a search on specific fields for a single portal data element. For example, a Decision Point Quick Finder will only perform a search within the Decision Points in the portal. The search is perforrmed by trying to find a match between the entered search text and the specific fields searched for the given data element. There are differences among data elements as to which fields are searched.

The search algorithm also takes into account the user's privileges in the system so that only records that the user has access to are included in the search. This prevents access protections from being bypassed when using this portal feature.

Search Results

After a Quick Finder performs a search it will provide the results in one of the following manners:

No results
If no results are returned because no matches were found for the search parameters, this feature will dispaly a results page indicating that no results were found. The user can change the search parameters and try again.

Single results
If only one data element matched the search parameters, this feature will display the detail page for that matching data element (i.e. takes you right to the single matching record in the system).

Multiple results
If more than one data element matched the search parameters, this feature will display a paginated listing of matching records. Selecting a record will take the user to the detail page for that record.

NOTE: There is no highlighting of search term matches on the results page. This is a future feature candidate for the portal.
